AI - Portable Computer is now available on Windows PCs with NVIDIA RTX GPUs
I do not think I mentioned Perplexity before, but this new feature is certainly worth talking about 😊
Perplexity Portable Computer is now available on Windows PCs with NVIDIA RTX GPUs
Portable Computer is now available on Windows PCs with NVIDIA RTX GPUs.
Run the harness, agents, and models locally on your PC.
Work with local files and connected apps without sending tasks to the cloud. Use frontier cloud models when needed.
Lots of AI agents lately, but the fact that for this one you can use or own RTX; if you are lucky enough to have one 🤣, they are NOT cheap 🤣, is certainly a big deal.
Official Announcement
On-device inference requires an NVIDIA RTX GPU with 24GB of VRAM or higher.
So not all RTX GPUs for sure, but still better than just NVIDIA DGX Spark 🤣
Support for MCPs
We’ve also added support for local MCP and scheduled tasks.
Connect Portable Computer to your own tools and app integrations through local MCP.
Give Computer recurring work and schedule it to run on your PC while you’re away.
Seems pretty decent given it is all running locally on your own hardware and no longer is constrained by only the very expensive NVIDIA DGX Spark.
