VSCode is now on Instagram, yes you read this right 🤣; and PowerToys 0.101 release

I cannot believe I am even typing it but yes, VSCode is now on Instagram 🤣

There are other interesting things going on today I could be talking about, but this one was way too good to pass on 🤣 but I will at least mention PowerToys 0.101 blog post so we have some actual educational content and not just humour 😉

I know VSCode has faced a lot of fierce competition from Cursor, Devin, and other AI-powered code editors, but this is certainly an interesting move 🤣 I assume it is trying to reach younger developers? Really not sure, but I guess more cool stuff from VSCode is always a net positive 😊

Great blog highlighting all the new stuff 😊 My standout is for sure 🎥 ZoomIt adding DemoMirror

ZoomIt introduces DemoMirror, making it easier to present from one display while showing a live view on another. Press Ctrl+9 to mirror the full screen, Ctrl+Shift+9 to select a region, or Ctrl+Alt+9 to mirror the window under your pointer. The mirror includes the mouse pointer, and the optional Track window region setting keeps a mirrored window in view as it moves or resizes.

ZoomIt is already widely used in presentations so this is super useful!

You can activate Window Hopper by pressing Alt + backtick (that’s the ` in the upper-left corner of your keyboard). Holding Alt and pressing backtick again cycles you through any open windows of the same app you’re already in.

What is PowerToys?

PowerToys is a set of utilities for power users to maximize productivity. It includes utilities for window management, file exploration, and more.

Microsoft describes it as:

Microsoft PowerToys is a set of free, open-source utilities designed to help power users and developers get more out of Windows.

I really like the “get more out of Windows” part 😊
